Philip S. Yuan, M.D.

Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery
Specializing in the treatment of Degenerative and Traumatic Spinal Disorders, Adult Spinal Deformities, and Osteoporotic Compression Fractures.
Dr. Yuan was born and raised in Syracuse, New York. He earned a B.S. degree with distinction in Biochemistry in 1993 from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and qualified as a Howard Hughes Scholar.
Dr. Yuan earned his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1997 from the University of Michigan Medical School. During medical school he co-authored his first of many subsequent articles, and that first paper was published in Spine.
Dr. Yuan came to the West Coast for both his Internship in General Surgery and his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California San Diego. In 2003 he was offered the prestigious Spine Surgery Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University and the Rothman Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He and his wife returned to the East for this study period, and during this time he published several research articles and book chapters and made presentations at both national and international orthopaedic conferences.
He and his wife decided to settle down in Southern California and pursue his professional career as a member of Memorial Orthopaedic Surgical Group. Dr. Yuan, outside of medicine, enjoys spending time with his wife, family, and friends as well as playing tennis, golf, snowboarding, weightlifting, and traveling.
